Five Generations

In 1902, Sam Stokes sold the first plants in Forest Hill, Louisiana. He later joined forces with his son, Nat Stokes. Nat's Son, Rodney then opened Rodney's Greenhouse in 1965. In 1977, Sam and Donna Stokes opened Sam Stokes Nursery as a wholesale-only nursery.

They built their retail sales yard in 2006. In 2017, Sam and Donna turned over the reigns to their daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Michael.

As a family-owned business, we pride ourselves in the quality plants we grow and sell as well as the consumer education and customer service we provide.

We love coming out to Sam Stokes throughout the year! Friendly and informative advice on all plants. Very organized, and my tomato plants from this Spring are still going strong in September, even though we've had a drought. Great affordable prices and much healthier plants than what I can find at Lowe's, Home Depot or Walmart! Will always come back and try not to buy "unnecessary" plants!  Oh...and always enjoy visiting those friendly fur babies out there! My kiddos love them too!
