Hershey is a grafted thornless honey locust cultivar. It produces large pods with as few as 16 pods per pound. It is an excellent producer of enormous sweet pods. Named after John W. Hershey who did survey trials that showed honey locust pods to be quite delicious and acceptable food for humans. Whitetail deer devour the pods from this tree. Hershey has been planted in permaculture plantings for both humans and livestock. Pods drop from October - December.
